My enthusiasm for gaming led me to explore game design, and when I learned about augmented reality (AR), my mind immediately burst with the possible applications for such technology. I eventually had the idea to use both playing cards and AR technology to create an amalgamated experience: GAME-ON.
The physical card system was eventually based on the traditional 52 card deck, designed in such a way that each card functioned as a unique AR target. The AR system was based on a gaming console or emulator - specific targets would unlock different AR games to play with each of the cards holding a library of unique assets for each game.
I researched AR technology and those developing it while also reaching out to game designers to publish my game, in order to develop a proof-of-concept and print a small run of decks for supporters.
